Make it or Break it is a series on ABC in USA and, In France, "Championne à tout prix" on Orange Cine Happy. The series have 2 seasons with thirty episodes. It began in June 2009.
It's about four young girls, Payson, Emily, Kaylie and Lauren who want to win the Olympics. The story begins when Emily arrive in the sports centre Rock the greatest centre where the best gymnasts were formed in the USA. But in the gymnastic's background the competition is permanent. Even in the Rock. The Lauren's place is threatened by Emily who is a great gymnast. Lauren, with her influence, drive everybody to hate Emily. Episode after episode, the four girls will create a fragile friendship often broken. In the season one, each girl has a problem: Payson her back hurts, for Kaylie it's her boyfriend, for Lauren is her mother and for Emily is poverty. In spite of the test and the temptations, they stay concentrated on their purpose: to be the best. But are they ready sacrifice to win?
The actresses are truth gymnast. They are dubed only for the dangerous scenes. This series appears truth and all the people would like it. It shows all the things that a gymnast must endure (brave, athletic) or must have (will, determination).
I like this series because it represents a exciting world with the good and bad points. If you like gymnastic, the competition or the incredible figure, Make it or break it is for you.

Pandora Hearts

Hi everybody ! Last year, I did an article for my favourite band, and today I would write an article about a really great manga : Pandora hearts, created by Jun Mochizuki (applause for this person I admire!!!). I discovered it on summer holidays, and I don’t have any regrets for watching this.

What’s the story about? That’s pretty simple : Oz, duke’s son from Bezarius family, is a young boy who likes enjoying his child life. Always around him, her sister, Eida and his servant, Gilbert, who’s actually his best friend. Oz is really attaching, and beloved. However, for some dark reasons we get in the middle of the story, his father’s never by his side even for an important day : the matureness ceremony. Because Oz comes from a well known and a respected family, the matureness ceremony makes him pass from a child to a real man.
Well at the moment, I thought it would be an oldish story, uninteresting about a spoiled baby boy. Nonetheless, a strange thing happened to Oz… As he was wandering with Gilbert and Eida, the floor discarded from his feet, then he and Gilbert fell down. There Oz found a mysterious watch which “showed” him scary things. At the ceremony, some hours later, Oz became a man. And had been thrown by black worn men to the Abyss.
Abyss… the absolute contrary of our world… The shadow of all the black, bad and terrible united souls. Oz felt lost. He lost Gilbert, who’s been killed by his own self… And he met a “monster” from the Abyss : Alice, called “B-Rabbit” an intricate girl. Here’s the way everything started.

Pandora hearts is fairy, fantasy, the kind of magic manga I can’t forget. Between the fights, friendship, Oz’s loneliness, Gilbert’s mysterious behaviour (my favourite character, I swear!) the Alice’s hysteria and extravaganza, this made me crazy. Pandora tonight, I give you my heart so bring me wonders for god’s sake!!!

Mumford and Sons

As you know, every holiday needs a soundtrack.

Improve your Australian culture

Australia is situated in the Southern hemisphere.So, when it's winter in France, it's summer in Australia !

The capital  city of Australia is Canberra.
Sidney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Newcastle are the largest cities.
Australia has a population about twenty million people.
This country is called « The Land Down Under », because it is situated below the equator.
There is the British flag on the upper left corner of the Australian flag to remember the ties which link G. Band Australia. In fact, Australia used to be the place where english prisoners were sent in the 18° century.
The five stars represent the Southern cross constallation, which is a major navigational constellation in the Southern Hemisphere ; because Australia is the only place where you can observe it.
The Commonwealth star symbolize the original the original States of Australia (at the number of 7).


The currency in « The Land Down Under » is the Australian dollar.
The Aborigines are the first Australians.

The black of the Aboriginal flag represents the Aboriginal people.
The red represents the earth and their spiritual relationship to the land.
The yellow represents the sun, the giver of life.
The « Didgeridoo » is a long wooden flute.


New South Wales. Sydney is located on Australia's south-east coast of the Tasman Sea.
The boomerang was used for hunting.
The Aboriginal name of Ayers Rock is « Uluru », and it's important for the Aborigines because  for them, it's a sacred mountain.
The Outback is the midle part of Australia.
In the Outback, there are some sheeps, cattle ranches, and very few inhabitants

The Flying Doctors are  an air  ambulance service for people who live in the Outback : the most extensive desert of the country.
It's an organisation which provides both emergency assistance and primary health care to people who cannot easily acces an hospital.
Alice Spring School of the Air is a compulsary aged correspondence school that uses various communications technologies to have daily contacts with students, home tutors and teachers (in remote Australian places in particular).
Sydney  is the largest and most populous city in Australia and the state capital of 
With an approximate population of 4.5 million in the Sydney metropolitan area the city is the largest in Oceania.
Inhabitants of Sydney are called Sydneysiders, comprising a cosmopolitan and international population of people from numerous places around the world.


One of Australia's most remarkable natural gifts, the Great Barrier Reef is blessed with the breathtaking beauty of the world's largest coral reef. The reef contains an abundance of marine life and comprises of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays and literally hundreds of picturesque tropical islands with some of the worlds most beautiful sun-soaked, golden beaches.


Well, as conclusion, we can say that Australia people are very sporty in general : in fact, they usually practice rugby of course, with the team of « The Wallabies », but also cricket (more than in France), soccer boomerang or Australian Rules Football in particular.

Train

I'm going to talk about Train, a music group I discovered last summer.

The story of the group began in San-Francisco . Patrick Monahan met Rob Hotchkiss in the world of the music. Patrick, the singer, and Rob, the guitar player decided to create their group. The bass player Charlie Colin and a second guitar player Scott Underwood joined them, and the group became Train in 1994.

The studio Columbia Records refused to produce them, so they had to make live concerts in small places.

They made themselves their first album in 1998 : it was a success and the group attracked the attention.

In 2001 , their second album "Drops of Jupiter" was produced by Aware Records. The song "Drops of Jupiter" got a Grammy Award for the best rock song of the year. So, they became famous outside the USA.

They stopped making concerts for a few years because of their family life. Moreover, Patrick Monahan started a solo career. Their come back will be without Rob Hotchkiss. The new very famous single "Hey soul sister" arrived in 2009 on the top of the charts. Finally, they created "Save me San Francisco" which is the beginning of a new adventure for the group.

Harry Potter

I'll talk about books that have had a phenomenal success: the Harry Potter books.

Harry Potter is the name of a series of fantasy novel with seven books, written by J.K. Rowling.

They recount the adventures of an apprentice wizard named Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft.

The main plot concerns the confrontation between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort, a wizard that killed Harry's parents and attempted to seize power over the world.

To give some statistics, in June 2008, the books of the series have sold more than 420 million copies and translated into 67 languages.

His books have been adapted for cinema and several product lines were created after the success of JW Rowling's books.

ROCKY

I choose to talk about series called Rocky because it’s my favourite movies .
Rocky was created and interpreted by Sylvester Stallone, a very famous actor, it’s his first film, it came out in 1976 and it had a lot of success. There are six Rocky

The History
Rocky is an unknown fighter who lives in Philadelphia, he is poor, alone and works for mafioso. He has for only friend a man called Poly. Apollo Creed , the world heavyweight champion of boxing, wishes to give a chances to an unknown boxer to face him and win the championship.
Apollo chooses Rocky to fight him, the italian stallion, his nickname, accepts the challenge and begin training with Mickey, his coach . The fight lasts 15 rounds but Apollo wins because the judges vote for him, the public is suprised because Rocky resisted to the world champion.(the end of Rocky 1)
Apollo is upset and organizes a new fight at Philadelphia Spectrum and during this time, Rocky falls in love to Adrian who is the sister of Poly. The night of fight, Rocky taken out victorious.(the end of Rocky 2)
In Rocky 3 «eyes of tiger » , the italian stallion become rich,celebrate and he is the best boxer in the world, During a speech announcing his retreat, Clubber Lang arrives and offends Balboa because he wants to fight him for the world heavyweight championship. Rocky accepts the challenge but Rocky got the big-headed and his training is soft while Lang train very hard . Before the fight Mickey makes a heart attack and Rocky loses his concentration. Clubber ridicules him in 2 rounds, Rocky loses his championship. After the death of Mickey, Apollo Creed who retired, decids to train Rocky for his revenge but Rocky lost his nasty glance « eyes of tiger ».Rocky wants to stop the training but Adrian pushes Rocky to continue. It’s the return of the tiger. During the fight, Rocky tires the champion and wins the figth.

In Rocky 4, after his victory, a Russian arrives in the world of boxe and claims to be the best. Apollo wants to beat him to show that it is a loser but Ivan Drago is very strong and kicks down Apollo. During the fight, Apollo receives a punch and falls.
He died…
Rocky wants to avenge his friend and appointed a day for a fight, the 25 december, in Russia. When he arrived in Russia, he trains in snow while Drago trains with scientist and uses steroids. The fight arrives and Rocky makes his fight the most difficult in his life but he wins in 15 rounds. After the fight he has a headache, he sees again the punches of Drago.
In Rocky 5, Rocky retires of world boxe, loses all his money because of Poly who placed some money. The family Balboa returns to live in Philadelphia, in a poor houseRocky finds a job in the room of boxing and meets Tommy Gunn, a Young boxer who tells him if Rocky can training him. Balboa accepts, Tommy wins all his match but he is too much interested by money and he wants the world heavyweight championship. The média calls him Rocky’robot,Tommy begins to be fed up and he leaves Rocky for Georges Washington Dukes (organizer of event) who proposes a match for the championship. He wins the match but he isn’t estimate of public. Tommy is angry, Dukes say that he must fight against Balboa. A night, Tommy go to see Rocky in a bar and Gunn says he is ready to beat him but Rocky doesn’t pay attention on him. Paulie intervenes and says to him that he is a loser. Tommy hits him

In Rocky 6, Balboa opens a italian restaurant called Adrian because his wife died. Rocky is compared with the current world champion of boxing by a virtual fight he wins. The media are very intesterested by the idea and they want a match for the championship between Rocky and Mason Dixon. Rocky is agree with the idea, but everybody thinks that he can’t boxe. The fight is very tightened and last 15 rounds and at the end the judges decide to accord the victory to Mason Dixon but Rocky is happy because he finishes well his life...

These movies learnt me to exceed me in the field of the sport.

I' am going to talk about the band Onerepublic.

The band was created by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins, two friends from Colorado high school in 1996. But senior year ended, and Tedder and Filkins parted ways, each attending different colleges. The group has been reunited in 2003 in Los Angeles, in this period they signed with Columbia Records.

They worked with them for two years and half then Columbia dropped them, the good thing is that thanks to this they started to get a reputation on Myspace, that's how Timbaland found them and Onerepublic soon get a new contract.

With their single Apologize featured Timbaland was a big hit in the whole world. After their first single Dreaming out loud, all the followers were very well receaved in the world.

Their last album Waking Up was released in november 2009 is, I think, the most amazing with great songs Good life you can find down here :

ANGUS & JULIA STONE

I choose this band because Angus & Julia Stone are some really good singers -songwriters.

They are a brother-sister duo from Newport of the Northern Beaches of Sydney in Australia. The two of them are some musicians, Angus played guitar and Julia the trumpet.

Angus and Julia's parents are some musicians too since they've been inspired by the songs of their father.

After the breake-up between their parents, Angus and Julia are separated and take some opposites sides. Julia gave some lessons of trumpet and Angus was versatile.

It's just in 2005 that the two brother-sister are in the same town , in the South of America and they decided to get together and to be associate. Then, Angus and Julia began to collaborate on their musical endeavours in 2006 , they wrote many songs. They decided to leave USA to put up London. During they were playing in a bar, one singer of the band TRAVIS saw and help them to recording their first album "A BOOK LIKE THIS " which is made up of :

* the beast ,
* here we go again , ...

The album debuted at the number one in their native country.

Then they made a "trip" all around the world. It's allowed them to make some other songs and discovered some others countries to reinforce their style. It has also help them to find some lyrics of their trip !

Their types of music are folk, blues, acoustic. I like very much this album because it's calme down and relaxing and I feel good when I heard them.

One after the other, in 2010 , they made a new album very famous : " DOWN THE WAY " which regroups :

Tricking

First, Tricks are mix of acrobatics kicks, martial arts and gymnastic.

Tricking was created in the middle of the years 1990, by the American champion Simon Carmichael who did some tricks in an artistic kata.

Furthermore, I started tricking 4 years ago. I practiced with my brother and my friends.

To be a good tricker, you need to have courage, style, and motivation.

This sport is not very popular, but it starts to develop in the world. I think it will be popular in a few years…
Moreover, Tricking is not a sport of combat, like Kung Fu, Taekwondo ; it’s an artistic sport.

I love it, because it allows me to break the limits of gravity. Tricking is more than a sport, it’s a passion.

Then, I go to Paris every Sunday to practice this sport.
So, I have made this video just for you!

We talk about protest singers and protest songs in my other English class, so I want to talk about it on the blog too because I found this subject very interesting.
I’ll introduce you a very engaged singer, who I like, Michael Jackson, I know that everybody knows him because he is one of the most known artist in the world.

Michael Joseph Jackson is born the 29 of August 1958, in the USA. He was a huge artist, referred as the King of the pop, Jackson is recognized as the most successful of all the time by the Guinness World Records. His contribution to music, dance and fashion made him a global figure in popular culture for 40 years, as we all know! He began his career as a member of The Jackson 5 with his brothers in the middle of the 1960’s, and his solo career in 1971.
He composed many songs which the most famous are “Beat it” or “Thriller”, and made video clip to accompany them, so, he acquired a reputation as an art form and the popularity of these videos helped to bring new television channel like MTV to fame, now and thanks to Michael Jackson this TV channel is diffuse in the entire world ! Trough music videos, Jackson popularized a number of dance techniques such as the robot and the moonwalk, and influenced numerous hip hop, pop and R&B artists. The King of the pop is the most awarded artist of the history of music, he was also a notable humanitarian, donating and raising hundreds of millions of dollars for beneficial causes and supporting more than 39 charities …
So, I’m going to talk about the song that I choose, Earth Song.
In this song he protest against the war, the poverty, and the global warming, and this cause is very current and we have to think about it quickly. Michael Jackson wrote this song in 1995 and it’s the earth situation of now, in 2010, we can say that this song was a kind of futurist.

It’s such a powerful song, like when Michael J. say “what we’ve done to the world, look what we’ve done … ", this sentence make you thinking about it all our actions everyday which are destroying our planet, because, as Michael Jackson say “we”, he uses the first person of the plural, so he includes us in his lyrics, just because it’s our fault, all of us, humans. We have to take care about our Earth. He uses rhetorical questions, in the first verse and in the rest of the song too, and repetitions, those kind of process are made too think, and react.
I like the character of Michael Jackson because he was one who dares to show the reality, and talk about it. And that part of his personality, according to me, that is why he is so famous, still after his death.

Those are the reasons why I choose to talk about this song which I appreciate a lot for the message.

I play tennis since I was seven and I’m used to see the best tennis player on TV since I was ten. I will talk about one of them, Roger Federer.

Roger Federer was born the 8 of August 1981 in Bale. He is a Swiss professional tennis player who held the number one position for a record 237 consecutives weeks and 285 total weeks. He is right-handed with a one handed backhand. He turned pro in 1998.

Many sports analysts, tennis critics, and current players consider Federer to be the greatest tennis player of all time because Federer won a record of 16 Gran Slam singles titles.

In tennis world he is the man of all the records, 22 Gran Slams finals, 23 consecutives semi-finals in Gran Slam and he is one of the three players who won Grand Slam in three different surfaces the same year. He won 4 ATP world tour finals and 17 ATP Master Series. He also won the Olympic Gold Medal in doubles with his compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and a lot of other tornement in the world. That’s why he earns a lot of money.

According to me Roger Federer is the best tennis player of all time. It’s a model : he can do all he wants with a tennis ball and play very well. Playing as well as he does is a dream for a lot of young players; he plays very simply and tactical but he’s able to do incredible thinks to win a point. When I see one of his match I’m filled with wonder by his game and I just want to go out and play tennis after his match. 

Today Roger Federer is 29 and he is ranked World number 3 and a lot of people think that it’s the end of the greatest tennis player of all time. But I’m not sure. He won all the Gran- Slam, he is the man of all the records in the tennis world and he earned a lot of money but I’m sure that he want’s to play and win a lot of tornements again.
